I liked this enough to buy two.Short-term I am very pleased. The Z-wave feature I am guessing is new; as the installation directions do not cover this part of the set up. Their first-rate phone support (and email) sent the proper link and was relatively easy to connect to SmartThings and Alexa. With multiple ways to open the lock, it fully met my needs. The geo-fencing feature is great; leave and drive far enough (about 1/4 mile) sets the lock so that when I arrive home, it automatically unlocks via the presence of my phone. It is rare that I even need to touch the lock to open the door. If this lasts for the long haul, I will be very happy with this purchase. So a few items that may be important to others.- it doesn’t connect to Google Assistant w/o their WiFi hub.-you can set the lock so it doesn’t automatically lock. (Used on a rear door that we are going in and out of all day long, I needed this.)-the DOOR bore hole for the lock is the standard 3/4” inch. (Instructions incorrectly say 1”.)-the frame bore hole can use a standard bore also, but they include an upgraded steel insert for the frame, which will require a 1” bore hole, and for most, additional effort to install.-the app works, but could benefit from some user-interface improvements. For example, you don’t know if you programmed your fingerprint or not.-“Magic shake” has not worked for me yet, probably user error, but for me the least convenient way to open the door, so I don’t care.-comes with a door open/close sensor that needs to go on the door frame near the lock. To me it is an ugly wart on the door frame. Hate the look. Thinking this is just a magnet, I may try another magnet, that provides better aesthetics. The installation, setup and configuration is very straight forward and simple. Even pairing to home assistant via z-wave was smooth. Overall quality looks good, fingerprint/keypad work well.If you want to get this lock to work with home automation, via z-wave, it is not quite there yet. The only z-wave functions available are lock/unlock commands/condition and battery status. It does not report jammed condition (will just say locked), door open condition (though there is a non-functional z-wave sensor item), or how the lock was unlocked/locked (who unlocked, manual, unlocking user etc.). With full z-wave integration the WIFI bridge would be unnecessary. All of these functions work fine in the app via Bluetooth or via WIFI (with the addition of the NOT-included WIFI bridge). Perhaps they will update the firmware in the future to open up these feature, but for now, you are probably better off getting the WIFI version for remote connectivity or another brand for z-wave functionality.I watched one of the mfr videos on Amazon and felt this couldn’t possibly be that easy to install. It really was quite simple. I had to do a little work on my door in advance as I had some plates but I probably completed install in less than 30 min. I tried using the instruction booklet that came with the lock initially and found that the video was just easier to follow. I was not able to install the strike to cover the bolt plate on the door edge or the strike on the door jamb due to the existing condition of my door and that doesn’t seem to have caused any issue. I setup the app, linked this with my Ring home security and am good to go. Very pleased so far (it has only been 2 hours though, will update review after some time has passed to confirm I am still happy with everything).Despite the mixed reviews I took a chance and decided to go with three of these for my new place :1 Pro for my shared front door (z-wave)1 Std for my downstairs tenant (wi-fi)1 Pro for my upstairs space (z-wave)Firstly the hardware is impressive and solid. You can tell that it's a quality build. I would be surprised if these things gave any trouble or show signs of wear and tear before the next 10 years. Also it's SUPER EASY to install but this is because it's precision build and goes back to the quality of the build. Screws line up with the holes and the parts just fit and within 10 minutes you could be finished with the installation and actually be using the lock.Pairing the device with my Hubitat was a bit tricky at first but once you get the hang it works fine. The sensor also was a bit tricky to install properly at first but once you understand the nuances it's easy to do. So now I am able to ser up users using lock manager on the Hubitat and assign codes, etc.Now for the downside..the option to "import users from z-wave hub" doesn't work! Therefore I cannot enroll fingerprints. I don't want to add the user via the U-Tec app and as a matter of fact I really don't want to be using the U-Tec app period!! it's the reason I purchased a hub!!...so the turn off for me is that Ultraloq is advertising these devices as Z-wave devices but are still the making apps to manage them directly which is counter productive in my opinion. It would make more sense if they would just write the drivers and a specific App for Hubitat and other z-wave hubs rather than have their own app. Until they can get the import of user from z-wave hub working I am forced to give it 4 stars...but I really wanted to give it 5 stars..it says "Z-Wave." so I have a Ring security system that's Z-Wave too. I got them connected only integration is poor. I can lock and unlock this lock with the Ring app. this is really mostly useless. I want to put my finger on the lock, have it open the door, and also disarm the alarm. I'd also like to press "lock" from the outside and have the alarm armed. nope.yes, I talked to both Ultraloq and Ring tech support. no help there. each one says to talk to the other. Ultraloq suggested to use the intermediate If This Then That (ITTT) service. nope there too. ITTT can't arm or disarm Ring. then Ring support suggested to use one of the "blessed" Z-Wave locks.the thing does get me and other people in and out without a key. that's nice. I'm just going to keep it for now instead of dismantling my door again. maybe Ultraloq and Ring will get the integration to work later.UpdateI should have returned this lock earlier, but out of laziness i didn't. Now the lock has almost completely failed... not even the number codes will work now to open the lock. We can now only use the key. The app shows the door merrily opening and closed when in fact nothing happens. I believe that the motor that moves the bolt has failed.Customer service is less then useless... they only send automated replies once you've opened a ticket. The phone customer service people only tell you to open a ticket. Frustrating!!! Do not entrust the security of your home to these people! The ULTRALOQ U-Bolt Pro WiFi Smart Lock with Door Sensor was easy to install and pair with my wi-fi. The build quality seems nice and solid. However, It's performance has been disappointing, to say the least. For both my wife and I the fingerprint sensor is nothing but a frustration. Very occasionally it works within the first few attempts, but more often then not we're forced to use the number pad. We've tried redoing our fingerprint registration and use different fingers, but nothing works. The "shake to unlock" works only intermittently. The auto unlock (i.e. proximity unlock) has never worked. The door sensor sticks on the frame near the bolt, but sticks out a considerable amount and is constantly knocked off by coats. The app itself works well enough, but can be confused about being locked/unlocked it the sensor has been knocked aside. So overall, this has been quite a frustration and disappointment. I'll definitely be returning it.After being installed for about a month I got a call from my neighbor saying that my door is wide open! This darn lock decided to unlock yourselfIt took me a couple of hours to install, and one call to set up fingerprints. But beware: the AA batteries shipped with the lock died within a week — luckily I had hidden the emergency key outside, otherwise I'd have been locked out with any way to open my front door. Support answered quickly and zeroed in what had gone wrong. Changed batteries for brand name AAs and the problem was solved. This unit looks great and was easy to install, but having to use 2.4G wifi to use the app and connect to it is a pain. We run off 5G for everything else in the house, so had to go without the wifi app connection with the lock. We also find that it routinely does not recognise our thumbprint when we try to open the door, and we are nearly always forced to use the pin code, which is not what the intention of buying it was. Quite disappointed with a few of these issues.
